What denomination is Chelsea Christian Fellowship affiliated with?
Chelsea Christain Fellowship is an Assembly of God Church. In the early 1900s a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit took place across North America. Beginning in Topeka, Kansas, in January 1901, this great revival movement eventually paved the way for the formation of the Assemblies of God in 1914
The first meeting of the Assemblies of God was held in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in April 1914. This meeting brought together about 300 church leaders who were apprehensive about creating another denomination. These leaders agreed to form a loosely knit fellowship of independent churches called the Assemblies of God.
Why not just be an Independent Church?
For the most part, Chelsea Christian Fellowship is an independent church. Every Assemblies of God church is independent. There is no denominational control or hierarchy as in some denominations.
Chelsea Christian Fellwoship is self-governed, self supported, and we make our own decisions. For example:
> Every AG church chooses its own pastor.
> Every AG church owns its own buildings and assets.
> Every AG church determines its own ministries.
What are the advantages of affiliating with the Assemblies of God?
It allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible and to the power of the Holy Spirit. Unlike other groups, the Assemblies of God has no man-made “creed”. The Bible is our Authority.
It allows our church to participate in one of the fastest growing missionary organizations in the world. Through the Assemblies of God we help support missionaries in countries around the world.
